Harvest Helpers
Farm-Fresh Produce For Our Neighbors
Launched in 2023, Friends of Luscher Farms’ Harvest Helpers program harvests and gleans produce from Luscher’s Community and Demonstration Gardens and delivers it to Lake Oswego food assistance organizations—Hunger Fighter Oregon and LO Meals On Wheels. Thanks to our volunteer Harvest Helpers, in our first three seasons, we’ve delivered just shy of 9,000 lbs of Luscher fruits & veggies were donated!
Collaborating with our food assistant partners allows us to better understand the needs of the people they serve and enables us to be intentional about what to grow in our gardens to meet those needs. Importantly, we cherish having such a bountiful, magical park in our city and are striving to honor Luscher’s legacy of ‘family farming.’
Please join our 2026 Harvest Helper Team!
We harvest and deliver on Monday and Wednesday mornings throughout the growing season (May-Sep). We’re looking for both Harvesters and Delivery Drivers—you can choose to do one or the other, or both! See descriptions below. No prior experience is needed. Team leaders provide instruction and direction. Scheduling your shift assignments is flexible and customizable to suit your availability.
Harvesters. Harvesters should to bring their own garden gloves, trowel and snippers; knee pad, as desired. Some Harvesters will be directed to specific beds/plot areas to harvest specific produce types. Others will be assigned as “preppers“—to help clean, package, weigh, and load harvested produce into delivery bins.
Delivery Drivers. Drivers will pick up at Luscher Farm and deliver to the Hunger Fighters pantry (Mountain Park)and/or to LO-Meals on Wheels (Adult Community Ctr). Drivers must be able to lift full delivery bins (weights vary) and have an SUV or small truck with adequate space for the bins. Drivers offload the bins (usually w/assistance from the receiving organization) and pick up empty bins for return to Luscher Farm.
